On May 18, the YouTube channel “Timon and Pumba X PocketMongGO” released a video capturing actor Cha Seung-won‘s visit to a shelter for abandoned animals—where he not only volunteered but also donated a full ton of pet food.

The shelter, run by YouTubers Lee Kang-tae and Taera, is known for rescuing and caring for abused and neglected animals. Ahead of Cha’s visit, the couple shared their excitement: “We started a shelter, and now we get to meet actor Cha Seung-won—this is incredible.”

Upon arrival, Cha’s presence left the couple starstruck. However, he quickly put everyone at ease with a warm smile and a joke: “Should I just treat them like I do my own pets?” Lee responded, “Exactly—just feed them, play with them, and clean up as if they’re your own.”

As he stepped into his volunteer role, Cha was stunned by the scale of the shelter and the financial burden of animal care. He was particularly moved by a cat that had been severely abused in Cheonan, gently treating its injuries himself. His reaction to the shelter’s financial struggles was candid:

“They say humans are raised with love and dogs with money… what do you do when they’re sick?” Lee replied, “We rely entirely on donations. A checkup alone can cost up to 800,000 KRW, and surgeries run even higher.”

Known for his domestic talents and dubbed “Cha Housewife” by fans, the actor even prepared nutritious meals for the animals—an act that deeply touched the shelter owners.

At the end of his visit, Cha Seung-won donated a ton of pet food, expressing his hope for the animals’ future: “It’s a tough situation, but I’m glad these animals are being well cared for. I hope loving forever homes appear for them soon.”

Cha Seung-won’s sincerity and humility throughout the visit not only comforted the shelter staff but also resonated deeply with viewers, who praised him for his genuine compassion and quiet generosity.
